Rain Lab for Me is Not Just a Job
I am Mhanaz. I was born in Afghanistan and now live in Athens as a refugee. In my life I have faced many difficulties. But lately something very beautiful has happened in my life… I have found peace and joy through my work at Rain Lab!
Rain Lab for me is not just a job, it's family. My own family is far away, so the workshop feels like home.
Here I have developed the art of sewing and embroidery. I have been taught many things and continue to learn and develop my skills.
Every morning when I wake up to come to work, I arrive at the door of Rain Lab, and as soon as I walk through it, I am filled with a beautiful feeling and a joy of being able to create something!
I used to have employers who took advantage of me and paid me very little money for a huge amount of work. At Rain Lab, however, my work is respected and I earn a decent salary. With my income, I can have food on my table, send money to my mother and nieces, who are in Iran, and pay my legal fees.
«Most importantly, I don't work out of fear,as I used to in other jobs»
Most importantly, I don't work in fear as I used to in other jobs. If I make a mistake, I don't worry about being punished or treated badly. Instead, whenever a problem arises, we all find a solution together, having love for each other and mutual respect.
I am grateful for my work at Rain Lab and through the smiles of my colleagues I draw strength and energy for life!
When you purchase a Rain Lab creation, you are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our artisans, providing them, not only with financial independence, but also a sense of pride, self-esteem and dignity.
